Created for students to opt into to open 8th and 9th period slots for STEM electives, other research projects, and specialization. This is meant to connect students with their future careers well learning academic skills and school to be prepared.
Robotics 1 and 2 offer an in curriculum time for students to be introduced to the basics of robotics. This is where students build an FTC robot that will compete at the end of the class. Robotics 2 is where students come back and work more as mentros for robotics 1 to teach.
At North Catholic Team 5740 help directly start 9 STEM electives through a meeting with the administration, and after that through our students advocacy we have inspired 18 classes.
Taught as a second semster class where students are introduced to the basics of Onshape. This is the same Computer Aidded Design (CAD) as the team uses as if students wish for more practice or have an interest in joining the team they can take the class.
Our makerspace was funded by the $100,000 Khan Family Grant. With this, we built a mezzanine and bought workshop tools to grow our program and also have upgraded it with a Wazzer, CNC Router, and compressed air through the shop. We also share this space with other clubs and classes.
Career Action Plan (CAP) talks are where industry professionals come to the school and give career readiness talks and offer students opportunities. Career Field Trips are where students take a school day to visit the work places and see what their possible careers are actually like.
